This mixture of spices was inspired by the red stew that Jacob cooked and used to purchase the right of the firstborn from his brother Esau. The mixture consists of herbs of Israel's Judean mountains mixed with spices of the Far East that arrived here in the time of Jacob on the spice route from the Far East to the land of Canaan. The Red Spice is an excellent seasoning for roasted chicken and potatoes and for any Middle Eastern-style dish.
